Alexandra Marinescu targets Formula 4 British Championship

#RaceWithMe Romanian racing driver Alexandra Marinescu (16 years old) launches a crowdfunding campaign to raise money in order to enter the sec- ond half of the 2016 Formula 4 British Championship. She is the first Romanian female single-seater driver and one of the few girls competing in global motorsport.

Alexandra needs 25.000 USD (22.000 EUR) which, along with the amount that she already has from sponsorship, will allow her to compete in half of the championship (15 races). The first round that she could compete in takes place at Snetterton, Norfolk between 30-31 July. The funding will be open until the end of July and has a fixed goal, meaning that all contributions will be returned if the entire amount is not raised.

Donations will be rewarded with autographed #RaceWithMe cards or the gloves that the Romanian driver will use in the races. Sponsors could also have their name on Alexandra’s car and this way race with her in Formula 4.

Alexandra Marinescu: “Formula 4 is the next logical step in my career as I believe it will give me the right preparation for my future racing plans. Due to the high costs I was not able to enter any championships at the start of the year so I am now targeting participating in the second half of the Formula 4 British Championship. Any donation will help me get closer to reaching my goal and will be greatly appreciated. I know that I will be half a championship behind other drivers but I will build up my speed in every session and I am confident that I will find a good pace very soon. The main target for this half season will be learning and to secure some strong points finishes.”

The Romanian driver stepped up to the Formula 4 category in 2015, when for the first time the series allowed 15-year-old drivers to compete in the championship, due to a change in its age regulations. She ran in two testing sessions in MSA Formula at Brands Hatch with Virtuosi (Russian Time) and Richardson Racing. The Romanian driver also participated in a free practice session in the first round of the British Formula 4 Championship at Brands Hatch with Falcon Motorsport.
